  • Gingerbread House

One wonderful day last week we got a big box that had a little box inside. The outside return address said, “Gingerbread Lady.”  Huh? Inside the little box was this cute little Gingerbread house with a tag saying, “Love Aunt Doris.” OH! Thank you Aunt Doris!! You gave us two days of fun. (sorry, it couldn’t possibly last any longer! )

We stared at it for a whole day looking at it’s beauty. (this is before hair cuts… I’m catching up with our events)

We stared some more imagining what it would taste like. We had lots of leaning over it and “just smelling” moments.

We were even tremendously tempted several times to take just one piece off!

Then the day of destruction came! Gum drop roof first…

The kids couldn’t wait for the roof to come off because they were convinced there was something hiding inside.

Unfortunately, the little gingerbread people were not home. But the roof tasted so yummy! Probably the best ginger I have ever tasted. Yum!

Lollipops, Candy Canes, Chocolate… oh my! (somehow I managed to not get an individual pic of Caleb…OOPS!)

Even Papa couldn’t resist the fun!

    The end result…RUBBLE!

  • Now, that’s my kind of demolition!!!

  • Adorable, adorable.  And I don’t even have to feel jealous.  I can’t stand gingerbread.  But gingerbread houses sure are cute!  I’ll stick with the two-pound box of chocolate that my boss dumped on my desk this morning.  Yum.  Wish I could send the smell of it through your computer today!

  • Hilarious! ~ but yummy!

  • Yum! What a “sweet” present!!! The kids made one last week, it didn’t even last long enough for me to get a picture of it! I think we had it as a center piece for one meal!

re. St. Nicholas, I liked what Maria did, she had the children leave a toy for St. Nicholas to give to a needy child.

  • We used graham crackers and a bunch of dollar store candy, plus frosting and had a competition for our XA party. It was a big hit. I bought dollar store Christmas mugs for the team that won. Everyone enjoyed it. I did have to throw the results away lest I eat all four houses…..

  • Yum! We’re going to make homemade gingerbread tomorrow night…I can’t wait!

  • HA HA HA … that looks like so much fun for the kids !!! I can’t help but laugh though when I see a ginger-bread house now … particularly with the roof gone (like yours).   Have you seen the cell phone commercial where the ginger-man gives his son a cell phone and then this human hand comes in and takes a big hunk of the roof off ….. revealing the ginger-woman in the bath tub ?!?!?  It is a really funny commercial !!!

  • what cute pics!!!
