  • Update on Special people in my life…

Mom is still hanging in there getting her antibiotics each day with the visiting nurses. We haven’t gotten her blood tests back yet to see how her white blood cells are doing on this infection. If all goes well she will go back in for her third surgery sometime in February.

My niece Mariah looks exceptionally well for a preemie!! She weighed in yesterday at a whopping 5 pounds and 13 ounces! I could tell she was getting much bigger when I saw her on Thanksgiving day. She is much more alert too.

My niece Vivian will be going in for open heart surgery tomorrow. Can’t say enough prayers there!!! Like everyone else we are waiting word that surgery is over and successful with no complications. For now our hearts are heavy….

  • Have you tried Topamax or Keppra/Keepra (sp? not sure about that last one) as far as a preventative medicine?  I know that the latter really helped a friend of mine.  I just started taking Topamax myself.  As far as taking something for when you HAVE a migraine, I hear that Relpax works REALLY well.  Fioricet is another drug that I’m on that my neurologist suggested.  It’s an older drug but he said that it helps a lot of people.  It’s actually only FDA approved for tension headaches, but a lot of docs prescribe it for migraines.

  • Thanks for the update Sara…keeping you all in my prayers.

  • Looking forward to the pics!  Eric would like me to make an appointment somewhere to see what my options are for these headaches.  But, jeez, let’s deal with the whole yeast thing first.  See if we can get anywhere on that.  Besides, he has a horrible skin problem going on.  There’s no way he can convince me to see a neurologist before he gets himself to the dermatologist!  It sucks to get old.  Remember what it felt like to be 12?  HeHe  Hope your head’s feeling better.  xox

  • I hope you’re feeling better. Good luck finding a medication that will work!

I will be praying for your niece.

  • I am really sorry about your dream.  I know those really stink.

  • Oh, my Sara, my heart aches for you when you are going through a rough patch….(((((hugs and prayers)))). You certainly do have a lot going on and that’s just the stuff you shared. I am constantly amazed at the love and grace at which you carry yourself through every trial and just general daily life. I do hope you get some relief and I pray that you once again have babies in the house!  I am glad to hear your niece is thriving and your mom is okay- a third surgery though, poor women. I pray that little Vivian (that’s my best friend’s name) is going to be alright, praying for the doctors and her entire family. I can’t even imagine what they must be going through. Also I am praying for your children that aren’t yet home.  Maybe they are dreaming of you! : )

  • Glad your mom is doing well.  Hope your headache goes away soon.

  • Have they tried putting you on Phenergan (sp?) for the nausea?  A side effect of Topamax though is weight loss.

  • I thought that you might appreciate/enjoy this….we’re doing a sermon series at my church on healing (it’s the same church that “gloves9″ goes to).  Here’s a link to where you can hear some of the sermons.  I know that when I’m going through a rough patch health wise, it’s good to get some of God’s medicine

  • ryc: Lewis always uses a washcloth for a comfort item, like a mini blanket.

  • ryc at Strawberry14′s site:  I love your idea of still making the trek to get a tree and then delivering it to another family.  It’s just not Christmas without picking out and cutting down your own tree.  Or, if you can’t find another family who wants or needs one, maybe you could set it up outside.  I have seen lovely decorations made out of pinecones, peanut butter and birdseed!
