Christmas Lizard
**OOPS! I had done this entry at lunch time but forgot to take it out of private! Here this whole time I thought you were all seeing it until I just realized my mistake. Anyway… here it is now!
**The children always beg for this book to come quickly during advent! They have always loved the story line and the pictures have always been very captivating for them no matter the age. I won’t ruin the fun by telling you the story with the adorable Lizard but this is the night that we put up our nativity because of this book. We have a fancy nativity on the mantle (just like in the book!) that Eric’s Mom had given us over the years since our first Christmas.
Reading our book together before heading up to bed! (Does anybody else see that I am being invaded by dinosaurs?)

Our whole family can still fit on one sofa! Not for long… We actually took this picture because we found it amusing that all of our pets joined us for the story. Molly was already sitting between Phoebe and I and then Chelsea at some point jumped up on Chloe’s lap. Before we knew it our cat Cayenne perched herself on the arm of the couch. Eric quietly got up, trying not to disturb the pets, and set the camera on a table to take this picture of our whole family. Notice how every single pet is NOT looking at the camera. They hate the flash and know exactly what is going to happen when they see that contraption with the flip up light. lol Molly will look if you say “biscuit” as she did in my profile pic. However, you have to be standing behind the camera to get her looking in the right direction. Oh! She does get a biscuit too if she cooperates.

Then the kids got to set up their nativity set. That way they can play with one too! We have the separate shepherd hill that goes with it as well. I love this set and highly recommend it for those will little one’s.

I didn’t know Eric took this pic until after I downloaded it onto my computer. Sshhh…. don’t tell anybody I was standing on the furniture. I don’t think the kids noticed! It was the only way I could get a video of the kids playing with their nativity scene and retelling the story of Christ’s birth! I should have picked a better place for the children to play with it for pictures but they wanted to set it up just like mine on the mantle. So I got them a pretty doily (not sure that size would be considered a doily?) and let them set it up on the hearth. You can see the “grown up” one on the mantle. I haven’t decorated the rest of my mantle for Christmas yet….

what a cool nativity set.
How nice to have a set they can play with ~
What a cute family! Lewis is enjoying the cloth nativity that I put down low for him to play with. Joseph and baby Jesus disappeared for a day, but now they’re back.
That’s the Little People Nativity, isn’t it? I’m hoping Toys R Us (or some place) will reduce the price significantly after Christmas so we can get it for next year. Bethany LOVES looking at “baby Jesus” in my mom’s nativity. I love nativities, but I have no room for mine this year.
I guess it’s probably better not to have it out this year anyway…both girls are still in the grabby stage, and I’d hate for mine to break.
RYC: It would help if the people I need to buy for didn’t live in the south!
But I am making scarves for the girls and I for our trip to Colorado. It was kind of hard for me to figure it out from the book I bought, but I did it. Fortunately a lady at church showed me how to do it, too–that made it a lot easier!
I LOVE the full family picture, all pets included! And how funny that they look away. Mine do the same thing, unless we are outside. I guess the flash doesn’t bother them as much when they are standing in a sunbeam!
How fun!
RYC: I saw a cd at Hobby Lobby (I assume for the computer) that you can buy to learn how to knit. However, I would imagine that if you googled it, or checked one of the video websites (like photobucket or something), you could probably find a free tutorial. I really enjoy it myself. I know you can find free patterns on the net.
oooh, I ordered that set for Charlotte for Christmas! Can’t wait to see my little ones playing with it, too.
Didn’t you used to have an advent book list? Do you still have that, or maybe I missed it?
Great pics!!!
