What are we up to?
1) Our adoption out of Ukraine seems to be coming to an end with no child/ren for us. In some ways I find great relief to have a conclusion as I have been on this journey for over 18 months. Going no where, being glued to the house, because you are afraid of missing that email or phone call or perhaps having to run and do one more legal piece of paperwork gets tiresome. Unfortunately, that relief does not come without some heart ache either! I have needed my space to grieve. It has been hard to find words to update anybody at this point. This is the best I can do for now. We have begun to unpack our overseas suitcases…. We must trust and lean on the Lord. He always answers our prayers but sometimes that answer is a no. God knows what is best! I’m grateful He has spared us from going over to then come back empty handed. If it had to happen I’m glad it did in the way it did. God always knows what we can handle!!
2) We are looking for other options to add blessings to our family
domestically. More on that later.3) I am eager for Summer to arrive so our family can get out and ENJOY
the things we love the most! We all need a time of refreshing to our
souls. Right now we are looking to take some family time in June to
spend alone on a Maine island. We will be camping off season in hopes
of finding some solitude as we enjoy God’s beauty together. I cannot wait!!! For those of you that don’t know we spent our honey moon on a Maine Island and this June will be our 14th anniversary. Yup, kids will be involved in our celebration! Just like we celebrate their arrival into the family they celebrate the beginnning of our family that started when we got married. We like it that way!4) In the meantime, we are enjoying the flowers peaking up out of the snow. There is also a LOT of work to do in our yard once the snow all melts. One entire side of our fencing has fallen apart from the snow build up. We have a ton of tree limbs down and our arbovities along with much of our front landscaping are all damaged. Although it’s sad to see I am looking forward to working as a family to get our yard looking beautiful again. We all love digging in the dirt! :O) I wish a good fairy could come and do the fence painting though!
It looks like we will be looking for a new swingset as well. The snow killed ours! The top bar is bowed something terrible and while we cannot yet get to all the different seats it doesn’t appear the thing will be very safe after having a 100 year record setting amount of snow on top of it. The children will be delighted to have something new! Now I am just hoping we can find something in our budget. Have you ever looked at the pricing of those wooden play sets recently?

I am sorry Sarah for all that you have been through and the loss of a dream. My sincere sympathies for your loss and prayers for this difficult time. I know your children/child are waiting for you to bring them home. I am excited to hear what you have in the works! It must be hard to unpacke all that you have prepared for. Hopefully you can use all that crushed tp for camping this summer!!
It was good to hear your news even if some of it isn’t always the news we want to hear. You have so much to look forward to so don’t look back! : ) ((((hugs my friend!)))
I have been wondering why you were so quiet. Thank you for sharing your heart. I’m glad you did get four beautiful children from God (and Ukraine!). Praying for your domestic adoption……
Oh sweetie.. I’m so sorry things are coming to a halt concerning your Ukrainian adoption. My heart breaks for you, but I WILL be praying for you and your husband for God’s direction to your child. I have a good friend who has adopted through the crisis pregnancy center domestically, so that may be an option. Praying for you.((((
))))
Sounds like you guys are doing well and keeping busy. I don’t know what God has in store for you adoption-wise, but I’m sure it’s something good. In his time, of course.
If I lived near you, I would volunteer to be that fairy for you!!
About the swingset and budget, if you budget for fun activities for your family, think about using some of that category too. If your DH gets the boys out there to help build, and the girls as able, that could be a week long project (or a couple of weekends) on hands on learning and family time outside. Maybe have picnics outside during the building project. I’m sure that in all of your creativeness (is that a word?), you can relate this to something school related and/or God related! Maybe that will make it seem like less of a strain on the budget!
I’m so sorry the adoption isn’t working out the way you had planned. Your attitude about it is inspiring, I’m sure it’s been devastating. I look forward to hearing about other ways God will bless you and your family.
(((hugs))) sorry about the adoption.
as for your plants . . . . you may be surprised with how they snap back . . .I never winterize ours very well and they always pop up just fine. and I am surprised to here you guys have snow still. I really thought we were the last people on the planet to have snow on the ground. The last of ours (she says in expectant faith that there will not be more) melted on Wed. hey that would be yesterday yet it is already feeling like a distant memory. have fun encouraging all your plants and flowers to wake up.
I know nothing gets me over winter faster than the first buds shooting up.
I am so sorry to hear you will not being adopting from the Ukraine but excited to see what the Lord is going to do for you and your family. Praying the Lord richly blesses you with more children that need a loving home like yours.
This is the worst year ever for colds and stomach stuff! I’ll be praying for your family, as ours gives us constant reminders of it.
