The Weekend
My kids are MEGA hyper right now. I think it has to do with the upcoming trip to Ukraine. They are all constantly talking about it. They want to rearrange the bedrooms, get the cribs up, pick the babies’ names, get the toys ready and several of them even pretend with scrap pieces of paper that they are preparing documents for the adoption.
With all the excitement one would think it was Christmas right now in our house! I’m thankful they are excited, of course, and not feeling insecure or jealous with new sibs coming.Today, we decided to take them out for a nice family scenic ride in Beep. We didn’t go to church because Jared is in the “yellow zone” right now with his asthma. Considering that church is a place that everyone goes whether they are sick or not and it’s peak flu season for us right now we were not going to chance it because the next “red zone” means he could be hospitalized. Currently the several steroid inhalers are NOT working so we will have to make a call into the pediatric allergist at the children’s hospital tomorrow for a change in meds. Anyway, on our ride we saw lots of snow men which was fun. We also got to see an ice train sculpture as well as a sea dragon -the kids think it was Tessie. Now Caleb’s mind is spinning with ideas as to what he wants to try to sculpt out of the snow.

On Friday we had another pretty big snowstorm. It wasn’t as big as they predicted but still fun!
Jared helped Papa shovel off the patio.
Caleb Climbed on his old snowman. Yes he made it to standing on it’s head!
Chloe sat on the picnic table eating her “snow lunch.”
Meanwhile, Phoebe had no clue that she was standing ON Mama’s Rhododendron bush under all that snow!!!
Jared has been having a blast with his Kinex from Christmas. I believe this was supposed to be Uncle Doug (my Dad’s Brother) with his glasses and mustache. I have to show you another time the awesome race cars and such he has been making with these things!! All the kids LOVE these!
Saturday night when I went to put the girls to sleep I realized they are much like the odd couple. The girls are responsible to make their beds every morning by themselves. See how Phoebe’s, on the left, is so nice and neat while her sister Chloe’s, on the right, is a complete MESS?! Eric and I have always jokingly said Chloe is like a little tornado that comes through any room.
I guess Chloe gets credit for her special blankie being nicely put on her pillow. NOT!
That’s how she sleeps! She always wraps her entire pillow with her blankie every night. She must like how it feels on her face. Anyway, I don’t know how Phoebe is going to live with this! *lol* Reminds me of my roommate in Bible college who always had her clothes and bedding all over the middle of the room while I had my side nice and neat. Drove me bananas of course! In this case of my twins, it wouldn’t surprise me to find Phoebe gets tired of Chloe’s mess and turns into a little mother hen. She will either demand Chloe to clean up or she will go over and do it herself. I guess I will have to supervise Chloe a little more in the morning with her chore.
For being a good girl I took a picture, as she requested, of Phoebe and her neatly lined up stuffed animals.

Love your hair and all your other pictures too!
I could play Oscar to your Felix.
I love the hair… AWEsome!
Phoebe is a neat girl… she could play Felix to my Pheeb’s Oscar as well.
The picture of Chloe on the picnic table reminds me of a classic picture of us kids in the snow at my grandparents house on Russell Street. We are all lined up like a train, sitting on the picnic table, David in front and Jenny in the back. In the picture, I think that David is throwing snow back on Jenny and me.
There’s no way in heck that KB would be styling my hair when I had a migraine. I’m always closed up in my room with the shades pulled down, the lights off, the door closed. You must have taken something really spectacular to be able to sleep through that.
I didn’t even notice Phoebe’s stuffed animals all in a row in the first picture. Maybe I can hire her to make my bed in the morning!
Sorry to hear you had a migraine……too cute about the hair, lol……enjoyed the pics…..Our twins are the same way, even though they are 18….One likes the room neat and tidy as much as possible, the other…..not so much……That’s really awesome that the children are so excited about your new arrivals….
Take care~Karen
I enjoy reading your blog. God bless you and your growing family.

If we get excited about an event, it must be doubly so for kids, who don’t mask the excitement…..
