  • Lots Going On!

Our schedule is crazy right now!! This week we "officially" finish school with the boys even though we are technically year round home schoolers. We are also working extra hard to get ready for the campus ministry for the Fall. Getting ready for the Fall involves going to several orientations through out June, ordering and receiving lots of shipments for our resources to give to the students, scheduling our semester, working on our ministry website, going to training  conferences, traveling for itineration, praying for God's direction, studying God's word and keeping in touch with our student leadership. We were given the blessing yesterday from National Chi Alpha to be back on campus full time in the Fall so it's a lot of catching up!! We are BEYOND excited though!!!!

I have personally been working on our Chi Alpha website along with getting involved in facebook which is where most of today's college students hang out online these days. So if you have a facebook account let me know because that's where I am a lot these days.

In other news... I have gone several weeks with no migraine! (So, for family concerned, my lack of absence on my blog has not been due to health issues.) Today I do feel a bit of one coming on but I have learned that if I drink lots of water, take TONS of CO-Q10 and try to get out and about no matter how cruddy I feel I can sometimes chase them off. This is mainly because *currently* most of my migraines are silent/abdominal one's where I don't actually have the headache but all the other neurological symptoms. When I get the actual headaches I have no choice like anybody else with them but to curl up in a dark, quiet, cool room to sleep it off. Fortunately, those kinds of migraines have subsided some since we are over the unpredictable spring weather.

Let's see what else... I have been taking TONS of pics of the flowers in my garden and LOVING my new camera. I will be sure to share some pics soon when I can take the time to upload them. I have also been making sure I visit with my Grampa as much as I can. I miss my Grammie tons but I am also so very glad to have my Grampa and enjoy the time we can have together too. Grampa recently gave me Grammie's serger which was her desire. I am hoping to find some fun fabric to make the girls some summer dresses. If you know of any quick and easy patterns let me know!

We have planted peas, tomatoes, peppers so far in our veggie garden. All is coming along well. We don't have much room for more. I would like some zuccinni too but probably not this year.

We have still been on the house hunt looking for something with a little more room as we are expecting to grow our family. Tomorrow evening we have an appointment to see a house that I have wanted since the day we came back to the area. The house was previously owned by a professor that we knew very well. It's walking distance to our campus, as well as the local school for playing at the playground and ball in the fields and has an apartment over the garage to house a couple of students! It's in a neighborhood we have desired for a loooong time! We will see how it goes....

As far as our adoption I have heard NO word for several weeks now. We are still waiting to hear that our dossier has been submitted and when our appointment is to go overseas. We are being very patient trying to trust as God unfolds His desires for every aspect of our life. I will be honest and say the wait is just now getting hard emotionally. I think it's because we all expected that we would be over and back by now.

Currently our next plans is to head off to a Balloon Festival for Father's Day as our tradition and then off to MO for two weeks for Chi Alpha training. Upon returning from our MO trip we will then be spending time with family at my Grammie's commital service in which Eric is officiating. We will also be doing our first camping trip with my Cousin Kimmy. YAY! Summer is here!!!

  • Just Dandy!

All is going well! We have just been incredibly busy celebrating Jared and Caleb's birthdays as well as our 13th wedding anniversary all in one weekend and now finishing up school for the boys. The boys have been getting ready to take their national standardized tests next week. Thankfully, the sugar high from the celebrations will be over by then. Jared will have one last piano lesson next week as well. Then the summer schedule of life begins!

Eric, meanwhile, was balancing wrapping up the end of the year on campus with the students he will be working with next year, going to Freshman orientations and finishing up his missions budget so we can get back to campus full time. Our summer has booked up pretty fast schedule wise! We will start out with a trip back to MO, in the third and fourth week of June, for more training for Chi Alpha. The kids are beyond excited for another cross country trip!

I have been wanting to share these pics with you from a spontaneous moment our family had while in away on Memorial Day weekend. A farmer was getting ready to mow down his field but just before he did so our family took the liberty to enjoy the golden beauty that God put in the field!  Enjoy.

There is nothing like the freedom of running through a field of Dandelions!!

Run, run as fast as you can and pick all the Dandelions for Mama!

When Caleb was a toddler/preschooler he used to literally cry if Papa mowed over the Dandelions before he was able to go outside and pick them. I think he would have had a hard time with this field! He absolutely loved running through this field as his love for yellow Dandelions has not diminished!

The kids almost got lost in all that gold!

Chloe reflectively and carefully picked her bouquets.

Phoebe stops quick enough for me to catch her big smile!

Mama got LOTS of golden bouquets!

Jared models that he likes butter! Everyone remembers rubbing a Dandelion under your chin and if your skin turned yellow it meant you liked butter right? The kids were covered in yellow from head to toe! Nothing could damper the freedom and beauty of running through the field of Dandelions though.

  • LOPHOP!

Food, Family and Fun for Memorial Day weekend! I will have to share the fun in spurts as we did so much. Tomorrow (or today by the time you read this) will be Jared's 9th b-day so I may not get to it all right away. Of course tomorrow's pics will all be for the birthday boy!

Lobsters at the LOPHOP! What's a lophop? Well it's a huge adoption gathering that Eric's first cousin, Anita, hosts that also happens to include a huge lobster feast. Due to not having permission from the other parents I am only posting pics of our kiddos. However, know there were over 90 people at the party and the kids outnumbered the adults! WHAT A BLAST!!!!

Craft time at the Lophop! The last picture Chloe is showing Aunt Anita her art work.

Phoebe sportin' her lophop sunglasses while eating an oreo.

  • Lemonade Please!

I think Caleb is ready for his own lemonade stand!

It's a drive up lemonade stand! Yum, refreshing after all that bike riding.

My little lemon and her purple cup.

Out of lemonade and wanting a refill.

I look out out the window and see the toy bucket hanging in the tree! How did it get there and WHY?! Well, the boys decided they wanted a basket ball hoop so they created their own. Our white Patio chairs are what they used to climb up there! What can I say? Very creative!

  • Spring has Sprung! (beautiful flowers)

The kids found their tulips were yellow!

    The Bleeding hearts just forming...

I never noticed before that the Forsythia has orange lines guiding the bees to the nector until after I saw this picture.

Can you see the bee's proboscis? Jared spotted this right away that I had captured the proboscis! I was shocked that he knew what a proboscis was!!!

Do you see the pollen on the bees' legs?

Beauty even among the weeds in my gardens!

Can you see the proboscis in this picture too? Would you believe these things scare the willies out of me but I love watching them and photographing them?! They are quite a challenge though with how quickly they move from one flower to another!

    Purple Hyacinth smells so heavenly!!

Can't get enough of this texture!!

Lily of the Valley just beginning...

Creeping Phlox are out... I love the close up texture of this too! In the right hand corner you can see three different stages of the phlox blossom opening up!

Peony Bud. Notice the three little bugs (I think a type of ant) that is crawling on the bud? The peonies get these every year crawling all over them. Anybody know if they must have these little ants for the plant to be healthy? They certainly don't hurt it because my peonies are gorgeous!!

My absolute favorite flower.... the bleeding heart! Not my best picture taken of these but I wanted to get one on here before the frost came in tonight.

  • I'm convinced my Dachsie, Molly, smiles too!

We have had a lovely week!!! It has been a "blast from the past" with all the alumni that have come to see us before and on graduation day! FUN!! I loved seeing everyone again. Hannah and Bryan came for a day visit with their two sons on Thursday. It was wonderful to support and love up on each other as we don't see each other often now while we are on seperate campuses.  Graduation day we had the joy of seeing one of my student friends Sarah who has since graduated and moved away to the midwest. Then we had Gil come visit us while he was up too!

In other news we have confirmed lots of traveling for the summer.  (Obviously all will be canceled if we get the call to Ukraine!) Starting in June we will be going to Missouri again for Reach the U for the Group Growth track. After 11 years on campus it will be nice to have some recent training and vision! The kids, of course, are beyond excited for another trip across the country. This time in Beep our Sprinter!

  • Look What the Twins Have Now!!!

*Forgive the fuzzy pictures for the moment. Dad and Eric played around with my camera settings on Saturday and I have yet to take a clear picture since! Yup, I'm blaming it on the guys. They made it so I have no choice but to read the owners manual to see what is going on!!!! I guess that gives me the incentive huh?*

We found these in the local paper advertising used items for sale. Eric went to look at them last night and came home with beautiful bunk beds for the girls! I was soooo delighted!! They won't have them bunked up until they are six but don't they look beautiful as twin beds too? Would you believe me if I told you we got the frames and practically brand new mattresses for only $300 when bunkbeds in the stores in our area are starting out between $600-$800 with NO mattress?! This set we found used is way more rugged than the one's we have gone to look at in the store as well. YAY!! I love when God provides like this!!

I think the girls are beyond delighted with Papa's purchase!

Chloe looks like she wants to take a nap on her cozy new bed. *I* wanted to take a nap on her new bed! *lol* Now we need to get them some pretty girly comforters and sheets to go with their new beds.

  • I have a new camera!!!

    Panasonic FZ20

Tuesday night I got a new camera from my Dad! YAY! I have been having so much fun playing with it and learning how it operates. There will be more pics to come from my experimenting when Dad and I get back together. We left the cord that downloads the pics to the computer at his house. For now here is two cute pics from the night we visited with Dad. I was able to download these by removing my card and putting it in my old camera that works for about 10 minutes and then crashes on me. So you will have to wait for the rest...

Grampa Smitty (or "Grampy" as Chloe says!) has the coolest computer games for kids!! Here Phoebe is playing a game about ABC's while the other children look on.

The twins crashed on the way home! (OK, to their defense we went late at night!) I just happened to have had a new camera to photograph their cute little sleeping faces.
