  • Good Monday!

    Today is a great day.... My niece Vivian is home and healing well from her heart surgery. PTL!  My Mom is also at her very first day back to work. Mom will be working only part time for a while. Friday she had her PICC line out and is done with her antibiotics. Now time will tell whether they got rid of the infection for good and positive hope is that she will be ready for her final surgery in February.

    Today also happens to be my Mother-in-Love's birthday! Happy Birthday Mini!!! We love you! xoxo

    (This picture was taken on Thanksgiving Day when she came to visit us. The kids love a good story read to them by their Mini. Actually, truth be told, Mama loves to listen to Mini read too!)

    Today ALSO happens to be my cousins' 2nd wedding anniversary! I love this picture! May the Lord bless you with many more wonderful years to come together!! For my readers...Feel free to go on over to Kimmy's blog and send her some love and congrats.

  • Christmas Lizard

    **OOPS! I had done this entry at lunch time but forgot to take it out of private! Here this whole time I thought you were all seeing it until I just realized my mistake. Anyway... here it is now!**

    The children always beg for this book to come quickly during advent! They have always loved the story line and the pictures have always been very captivating for them no matter the age. I won't ruin the fun by telling you the story with the adorable Lizard but this is the night that we put up our nativity because of this book. We have a fancy nativity on the mantle (just like in the book!) that Eric's Mom had given us over the years since our first Christmas.

    Reading our book together before heading up to bed! (Does anybody else see that I am being invaded by dinosaurs?)

    Our whole family can still fit on one sofa! Not for long... We actually took this picture because we found it amusing that all of our pets joined us for the story. Molly was already sitting between Phoebe and I and then Chelsea at some point jumped up on Chloe's lap. Before we knew it our cat Cayenne perched herself on the arm of the couch. Eric quietly got up, trying not to disturb the pets, and set the camera on a table to take this picture of our whole family. Notice how every single pet is NOT looking at the camera. They hate the flash and know exactly what is going to happen when they see that contraption with the flip up light. lol Molly will look if you say "biscuit" as she did in my profile pic. However, you have to be standing behind the camera to get her looking in the right direction. Oh! She does get a biscuit too if she cooperates.

     Then the kids got to set up their nativity set. That way they can play with one too! We have the separate shepherd hill that goes with it as well. I love this set and highly recommend it for those will little one's.

    I didn't know Eric took this pic until after I downloaded it onto my computer. Sshhh.... don't tell anybody I was standing on the furniture. I don't think the kids noticed! It was the only way I could get a video of the kids playing with their nativity scene and retelling the story of Christ's birth! I should have picked a better place for the children to play with it for pictures but they wanted to set it up just like mine on the mantle. So I got them a pretty doily (not sure that size would be considered a doily?) and let them set it up on the hearth. You can see the "grown up" one on the mantle. I haven't decorated the rest of my mantle for Christmas yet....

  • God Hears Our Prayers!

    The book above is one our family reads every advent. For those that might be newer to reading my blog we read a book a night until Christmas as our advent. When the books are gone then the presents appear as it's the celebration of Jesus' birthday! I will try to share more in detail this year as we read each one now that we have our books pretty established.

    Last night's book, The Prayer Chain, is one of my favorite books as it ties in so well with how much our family has such an intercessory heart to pray for others. You know the paper chains everyone makes to decorate for Christmas? (our family does this as well!) Check out my cousin's blog as their family did a delightful display of their paper chains this year! Well, in this book the little girl decides to write down every prayer that was answered through out the year on slips of paper and then she makes them into a chain to wrap around the Christmas tree. So every year added to our own colorful paper chains we also make a white paper chain to hang in our tree with prayer requests and prayers answered written on each link. Each year when we read this book for advent we get out our prayer chain from the previous Christmas and see how amazing God answered each and every one of our prayers. We then add to the chain.

    If you look at my left hand module you will see our family has been praying for specific people. These people have been on our prayer chain for quite sometime! It brought me such joy to bring out our prayer chain last night and let the children read each of the requests they have been praying for over a long time. My children clearly see God's hand working in other families' lives as well as their own!

    Here are a few examples on our chain that the children had written down previously...

    Mrs. Snow to be healed and get better
    --- remember last year during this month I was asking for prayer for this family because Melissa was in her final days? She had hospice taking care of her and her kidneys were shutting down. Her children were having to say their goodbyes to their Mom and getting prepared for her to be with Jesus possibly near Christmas. Their prayer was that Melissa would not go on Christmas Eve or Christmas for the children's sake. Well, if you click on Melissa's link to her website you will see that a year later she is still with her family, with us here on earth, getting better and still working with her hubby for the Kingdom of Heaven!! Hospice is no longer at her house because she is no longer dying! There is no other explanation why that tumor has not taken her life except for a miraculous healing from Jesus!

    Benaiah to live and get better --- again remember when I asked for prayer for Benaiah, a teenager in our church, who had a skate boarding accident by colliding with a truck? Not only can you go to his website and see that this Christmas season he is living and healing but he is also writing his own updates now! I saw Benaiah in the hospital immediately after the accident when he was not conscious. I then saw him later when they were getting ready to send him home but still not very alert and not able to do anything on his own. Honestly, even my faith was shaken a bit not sure how the outcome was going to be. My children's faith never wavered that their friend Benaiah was going to be healed! Today they are able to worship Jesus side by side with Benaiah in church as he is fully functioning. Benaiah's life is a miracle! There is NO doubt about that fact in anybody's mind at our church!

    Jillian to be healed of cancer --- we keep our prayer chain out until about March when we then pack up our winter decorations. I believe it was in February that little Jillian was diagnosed with a large tumor in her lung. Jillian was added to our prayers. Today Jillian is cancer free! We do continue to keep her in our prayers as she continues to heal.

    Great Grammie to be healed of cancer--- Grammie had been on our prayer chain for two years because she had colon cancer. I thought this was going to be a hard one for my children to read again as they all knew that Grammie was not healed in an earthly sense as she went to be with Jesus this April. I tried not to explain anything as we read this link of the chain together. I wanted to see what the children's reactions were going to be on their own. I wanted to see where their understanding and hearts were before I tried to console them. To my surprise the boys both spoke up quickly to say that "Grammie received something even better! She is now healed of cancer and with Jesus!"

    Mama's headaches to get better --- my children pray for this faithfully every night. Unfortunately, my migraines have gotten worse not better. Again, I thought this might discourage the children but their reaction was quite the opposite. They very eagerly grasped faith again and said that God will heal me just like He had for all the others. I'll take that faith and run with it!

    God's will to be known on buying a larger house
    --- we have not bought a new house, yet. This was a great opportunity for Eric and I to explain how we had seen confirmation in each situation that was presented before us that the Lord did not want us to move. It was also a learning time for the children that God always answers prayers but it may not mean it's a yes or in the exact way we think. The reason being as Jared so perfectly put it "because God's will is best!" Now looking at the housing market and our financial status we can see why the Lord has said no for the time being. Our little cape is just perfect for our budget and it helps our family to be better stewards as we all have to fit and live in it together as we continue to grow in size with more children.

    Our adoption Loan would be paid off --- this was in regards to the loan we had taken for our twins' adoption in 2004. We are happy to give testimony that God answers prayers even this far out! Our adoption loan was completely paid off by an anonymous, generous giver as of this November. (!!!) An awesome testimony for the children to understand persevering while waiting for God's answer. They have been praying faithfully with us for three years for this request.

    A larger vehicle for our family
    --- as you all know we have found that vehicle that so nicely fits our family and the children yet to come. The children have joined us in prayer that we will be able to completely pay that off as well. I cannot possibly go into the whole story on how we found our vehicle on an already long entry but there is no doubt in our minds that God brought it our way! We even have a testimony of the salesman going to church, learning to read his Bible and pray because Eric witnessed to him. God set up a divine appointment through a mundane activity like purchasing a bigger family vehicle! Again my children's faith (and mine!) has been boosted greater by this experience of God's provision.

    Papa's Mission's Budget to be raised --- we are almost there! This semester we were released to go part time back onto campus because our budget was coming along so nicely. Now if we can just get over the hump of that last bit we will be commissioned to go full time. We are all excited to see God's timing and faithfulness to us regarding meeting our needs as we are faithful to Him!

    Our Babies in Ukraine to come home --- this one was again a neat testimony to reflect on as we have been praying for this for over a year and still no babies are here. However, we never had a clue as to what was going to be ahead of us in regards to other family needs. My Grammie's death, my Mom's tumor that has resulted in three surgeries, my Sister almost losing her life as well as her unborn baby and now my little niece Vivian is struggling after open heart surgery. There is no way I would want to be out of the country when family needs our love the most. God knows what is best and we are standing in prayer as each of the above needs have been added to our prayer chain this year both as praises and continued requests. We are thankful that God knows just how much we can handle and HIS timing truly is what is best. Our babies will be home when the time is right. From past experience with our twins our babies that God has hand picked for us probably are not even available for adoption yet.

    There is so much more I could share! Our prayer chain is long and we delight to stand in the gap as intercessors for others along with watching God work His miracles. God's desire is to fulfill the desires of His children's hearts! Never forget that. If you have a need know that God has an answer! You may not see it just now but in God's perfect timing He will reveal it to you. Do not think for one moment that I am saying our faith is perfect. Quite the contrary!! We struggle as any other family out there. We have our moments of uncertainty, allowing emotions to create chaos and just simply choosing to not persevere. I can tell you though that God is a great God! No matter where you stand, no matter what you have done, no matter how you feel and no matter how little faith you have He is standing with His hands out stretched waiting for you to lean on HIM to get you through life's trials. It is NEVER God that separates Himself from us but rather we separate ourselves from Him. Thankfully, He is always there to fully embrace us when we turn to Him!

    May each of you be blessed as you have read the testimonies of God's faithful love!

  • Birthday Girls

    As per tradition the birthday child gets to pick their own birthday dinner. Without hesitation both girls simultaneously shouted, "PIZZA!" Not just any pizza either! They wanted to go to our family run pizza restaurant that is about an hour away from where we live. Phoebe wanted cheese and Chloe wanted pepperoni. If you can't tell the pizza is half and half.

    Then they enjoyed a delicious, toasty hot cup of cocoa. Good thing they wanted b-day hats otherwise we might look back on these pics and think it was Christmas with that tree in the background! lol

    After hours spent in the toy store we went to Great Grampa's house to share some birthday cake. Chloe wanted "vanilla" cake and Phoebe wanted "chocolate" cake. So I ended up buying them each an individual one again this year. The other cake you can see in the pic with a pink rose was for the rest of us to eat.

    CAKE! YUMMY!! I wish you could have seen Phoebe go after her chocolate cake. Her hand was literally shaking from excitement and I think she swallowed each bite whole!

    I love this innocent age when they just open a present, hug it and say, "Just what I wanted!" Chloe has never seen this game Bibleland in her life but it was still just what she wanted. Phoebe did the same thing with pink pajamas she got from her Mini in a picture you will see below.

    Below are presents from Grandparents...

    Thank you to all our Grandparents! We loved all our presents! It made our day even though some of you were far away. =)

     Here the girls are playing with a card they got from their cousins. Kimmy they played with these all night long and went right back to them in the morning! My girls LOVE cards and the reusable stickers were a huge hit. Thank you for your thoughtfulness!

    Remember that chocolate cake Phoebe ate?

    I think the sugar kicked in right around bedtime! This was the ham she was while getting ready for bed.

    Oh! Speaking of Phoebe... we have a tradition that if you are the b-day kid you do not have to do any chores on your birthday and that means no making your bed. Well, first you have to understand that Phoebe is my only child that is a neat freak. She goes around picking up after everyone. Not making her bed was just not right in her mind so she made Jared do it. lol Normally the b-day kid is giddy that they get to leave their bed a mess.

    My girls are a big five! Where has time gone? Btw, did you know when you turn five you can do anything? Ask Chloe! She will tell you so!

  • Little Vivian

    Thanksgiving pics will have to wait for the moment. I want to ask you all to pray for my niece, Vivian, who has had open heart surgery today. Surgery is now over but the next 24 hours is very crucial. Please pray for her as she heals.

  • Update on Special people in my life...

    Mom is still hanging in there getting her antibiotics each day with the visiting nurses. We haven't gotten her blood tests back yet to see how her white blood cells are doing on this infection. If all goes well she will go back in for her third surgery sometime in February.

    My niece Mariah looks exceptionally well for a preemie!! She weighed in yesterday at a whopping 5 pounds and 13 ounces! I could tell she was getting much bigger when I saw her on Thanksgiving day. She is much more alert too.

    My niece Vivian will be going in for open heart surgery tomorrow. Can't say enough prayers there!!! Like everyone else we are waiting word that surgery is over and successful with no complications. For now our hearts are heavy....

  • Snow Day!

    Snow twins ready to go out and play!

    Caleb caught lounging in a summer chair eating a chunk of snow!

    Jared found a HUGE sheet of ice!

    Watch out Mama!!! Thank you to Mini for our winter coats and snow bibs!

  • It's Snowing!!!

    I woke up to kids going wild and crazy over my head as their bedrooms are on the second floor and mine on the first. I asked Eric if he would go upstairs to put things in order to only find out that he quickly comes back to me to report "It's snowing out." Yup, that says it all! The first real snow storm of the year allows for the excuse of waking up Mama and Papa because it is just so exciting and a magical winter wonderland. So no scolding that they were awake too early and/or not doing their "quiet activities" until we come get them. IT'S SNOWING!!!!

    Amazingly, this was my verse for the day on my home page that I wake up to every morning...

    "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it
    without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it
    yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that
    goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will
    accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11

    I'm sure there are pics to come of kids enjoying the first real snow of the year!

    In other news, we are just busy, busy, busy! We have been Christmas shopping, baking cookies for Memere to cheer her up, keeping up with homeschool, art classes (please don't let me forget these today as we did last week! ), preparing for piano recital and getting excited to spend Thanksgiving with my Mom, Grampa B. and all my silbings including my newest little niece Mariah. Life is good...

    PS. I just read the book above and highly recommend it to all families!

  • Autumn Snowflakes

    God gave us our science lesson yesterday afternoon. We had some snow showers all day but the snow didn't stick as the ground is still not frozen. However, we were able to go out and study some of the shapes of the snowflakes. Check out what we were able to see with our bare eyes! Can you find the many different shapes we did? (I wish my Dad was up here when it happened because I had no idea what I was doing photography wise!)

  • Jared the Inventor

    Jared sketched these plans out to build a robot. We had no idea what he was up to when he showed us this but we were pretty impressed with how detailed he was with putting his ideas on paper! I think he might have gotten some inspiration to do this based on the above movie. Jared has always said someday he is going to invent something. Quite often he will say things like, "you know Mama I am going to invent ABC to help you with that job." Hmm... with what I have learned from reading in history many inventions were made to by boys wanting to make their mother's tasks easier. Maybe Jared is on to something here!

    Here is his robot standing. He used the pieces in his gears set. Oh! The robot is waving btw.

    Back bend anybody?

    Showing us the robot walks too!

    Check it out.... it even does push ups! lol

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Updates on the family prayer requests:
    Mom is doing well so far with her first days home. The nights have been difficult so she needs prayer for sleep and peace. Mom has a visiting nurse every day come to see her, check her incision, give her the antibiotics via her PICC line and help her if she wants a shower or needs help with food while my stepdad is at work.
    My niece Mariah also has a visiting nurse check up on her several times a week to make sure she continues to gain weight, check her breathing, heart etc. We continue to pray that Mariah grows and thrives without further medical intervention.
    My other newborn niece, Vivian, needs your prayers as the doctors have decided that the hole in her heart needs to be closed and she will be undergoing open heart surgery. She will be having her surgery on Nov. 28th. Pray for healing, safe surgery and God to direct the doctor's hands and wisdom!
